"Martes y trece" were 2 famous spanish humorists. They split up in the middle of 90's but I have lots of good memories about them like this parody of "The boxer" (Simon & Gardfunkel). I remember being very young and shitting in my pants in laugh with this sketch:

O primeiro dia case que o vou obviar, por razóns claras... eu, coma a maioría de xente que coñezo por aquí solo irá o segundo dia "de Metal". O punk rock hispano (que desgraciadamente se ve que move masas e posiblemente haberá máis xente para ese día que para o de Metal..) deixémolo para perriflauteros kalimotxeros XDDD
Cradle Of Filth: unha banda que empezou por aló do 92 facendo death metal, pero que sacou o primeiro disco "the principle of evil made flesh" no 1994. Un disco de black metal gótico vampírico, que ainda hoxe me sigue enganchando. Posiblemente o primeiro disco de black metal que me gustou. Logo seguíronlle un par de discos "dusk and her embrace" (un disco clave na historia do black metal, que moitos tomaron como influencia) e "cruelty and the beast" (outro disco moi bon, case á altura do anterior) que os encumbraron definitivamente.
Logo deso, a calidad baixou sensiblemente con "midiam" no 2000 e con posteriores discos a cada cal máis mediocre. Iso si, empezouse a convertir máis nunha marca e cebo para teenager gothic fans e os recopilatorios, singles, directos e dvds empezaron a salir a esgalla cando viron que Cradle of Filth e máis o seu cantante (Dani Filth podería ser algo así coma o Marylin Manson dos black goticos, é decir, pose e venta de imagen) eran un producto de venta masiva entre "jóvenes con sentimiento gótico-oscurillo" (bah non me vou queimar moito poñendo outras cousas que se me están pasando pola cabeza XDDD).

Gamma Ray: O guitarrista de Helloween, Kai Hansen montouse o seu propio grupo logo de marchar de dita banda. Unha banda que empezara moi forte, co "heading for tomorrow" no ano 1990, un clásico cheo de boas cancións de power metal ou o que daquela era chamado speed metal alemán. A denominación de power metal daquela era destinada a grupos que non eran nin heavy metal nin thrash metal (por moito que digas, Simón, daquela non existía o power metal coma se entende ahora ;) ), é decir, acordome que Pantera, Iced Earth, Metal Church,... eran os grupos de Power. De feito sorprenderame bastante cando esa etiqueta a pasaran ós grupos que empezaron a falar de dragoncillos e batallas épicas polo medio dos 90 XDD
Gamma Ray seguiron con un par de discos que non estaban mal pero non chegaban ó nivel do seu debut, eso sí, cun fenómeno chamado Ralph Scheepers á voz.
Sen embargo, co cuarto disco "Land of the free" deron a campanada por aló do 1995, convertindose nun clásico de todo o metal. Inspirador (e ás veces moito máis ca inspirador) para montón de grupos que surxiron posteriormente. Sin duda un disco clave.
Logo de ese, "Somewhere out in space" e "Powerplant" continuaron unha boa discografía, pero a partir de ahí Kai Hansen deu a impresión de pouco a pouco quedarse sen moita creatividade para compoñer, e sucederonlle 3 discos sin pena nin gloria que o único que supoñían era máis do mesmo. Moitas cancións cando as oín no seu momento dabanme a impresión de que eran cachos de outras cancións cambiados mínimamente e unidos.
O seu último disco, "Land of the free II" paréceme algo un pouco sangrante, porque hei de reconocer que me rín oíndoo: con él non solo collían da súa propia colleita pasada, senón que "colleron" (en algun fragmento moi descaradamente) unha "inspiración" moi palpable de discos ochenteros de Iron Maiden ou Judas Priest...
Gamma Ray - Into the storm (2007)
Overkill: formados no 1980!! tiveron a súa época de apoxeo durante os 80, facendo thrash metal. Empezaran facendo versións punk de "los ramones", "the dead boys", "motörhead"... Con sobre 15 discos ás suas costas son un grupo mítico, pero vido un pouco (bastante según o meu punto de vista) a menos nos últimos anos. Particularmente nunca fun un fan deste grupo, ainda que será interesante velos en vivo.
Overkill - Skulls and bones (2007)
Primal Fear: cando Ralph Scheepers deixou Gamma Ray coma vocalista, fixera algunha prueba para ser vocalista de Judas Priest, pero non foi escollido en favor de "Ripper" Owens. O que fixo foi xuntarse a membros de Sinner, unha banda clásica de heavy metal alemana, e facerse o seu propio grupo, Primal Fear. Acórdome que o primeiro disco de Primal Fear gustárame bastante no seu momento, ainda que tiña cancións un pouco chorras XDD coma a de "formula one" ou "dollars", pero tiña un toque "judas" e uns riffs moi cañeros que enganchaban (o comezo dese disco é brutal con chainbreaaaaaaaaakerrrr :D ). O malo foi que a evolución foi básicamente nula, con discos case que calcados uns a outros e que producíanme somnolencia por predecibles.
Acertadamente, decidiron cambiar algo cun bon "Seven seals" no 2005, introducindo algún pasaxe diferente e quizáis a veces incluso un pouco máis progresivo. O último disco é do ano pasado "new religion", pero pasoume outra vez un pouco desapercibido.

Exodus: coma Overkill, formaron tamén parte do movimiento do thrash metal americano dos 80. Fundados en 1982, e cuyo guitarrista durante ese primeiro ano de existencia foi o famoso Kirk Hammet ahora en Metallica, sacaron o seu disco debut "bonded by blood" en 1985, considerado coma un dos pilares do thrash metal. Logo de eso, un par de bos discos de thrash e un bastante ostracismo durante os anos 90 e principios de 2000. No 2004 sacaron un disco que melloraba todo o anterior, baixo o meu punto de vista, desde os comezos con "Tempo of the damned", pero os 2 siguientes discos non foron demasiado ben recibidos (o último ten algunha canción e algún bon riff, pero foi pesado de oír para min, de feito, 2 veces e fuera).

Cynic: éste é un caso extraño dentro do metal. Cynic formáronse por 1987 e sacaron o seu único disco en toda a historia en 1993 "Focus", pero resultou tremendamente chamativo o estilo de Death Metal Progresivo que facían, aunando influencias de jazz e fussion cun nivel musical moi técnico. Agora son considerados precursores e un grupo mítico.
Logo de 15 anos, parece que volven, eso sí, coa metade da formación e compuxeron fai pouco unha nova promo que non tiven ocasión de oír.
Agora ben, personalmente, acordome de ter oído ese disco e non terlle prestado moita atención, tal vez era moi novo (porque debe facer coma 10 anos ou máis desde a última vez que o oín) pero non lle souben apreciar todo aquelo que se dice... Botareille outra oída agora que sei que os vou ver a ver qué impresión me queda.
A nova canción sona interesante:

3 Inches Of Blood: grupo canadiense surxido nesta década de Heavy Thrash Metal con 2 vocalistas: un que parece sacado dun grupo daquel trueeeeeiaaaaaaheavy metal ochentero (ás veces incluso gracioso e ridículo, recórdame a Gigatrón XDD) e outro con voz rasgada casi harcore-metal. Particularmente, oínlles moi pouco, pero non me pareceu nada do outro mundo. O típico grupo que acaba no fondo dunha caixa de cd's e non lle prestas máis atención.

Fallen Sentinel e Shroud of Tears son a participación gallega do festival, os primeiros un grupo de black metal gótico progresivo e os segundos fan gothic metal con certo toque doom. Son un gran seguidor dos primeiros pero os segundos producenme certa indiferencia musicalmente falando.

Important update
As you have noticed, I am not very often in msn, but I have to say I will be quite rarely (nearly never, and not nights at all) in the next 3 months until 30th september.
I will go to work all summer in the bank of a small village, Riotorto.
The village is 1 hour by car far from my hometown, and I have never been there before! (At the moment I don't know how to reach it)
It has around 1500 people living there (yeh! really small!!) and I couldnt find anything related with buses or train or some public transport which reaches there (It really seems to be a lost village!). They haven't hostels, and it seems some people who are working there have their home out in a near village. Well, looking at that, there is just one way: driving, and I am a bit afraid (last time it was before I left to Estonia, around 2 years ago :S:S).
Well, consecuences: busy summer, all summer in my hometown. Probably I will miss the concert of Testament in Vigo (23rd june) and more important, Rotting Christ (26th june) because it will be in the middle of the week :(((
I will be few times in Vigo, maybe just one weekend or 2 to see some festival, and will have in general few free time :( but I need that work and that experience. Even if it's in a place lost in the middle of nothing :D
On the good hand, I will have a lot of nature around :)
On the bad side, far from Vigo to pick someone who would like to visit me and not always free to spend the time as I would like with those ones :(
Of course no trips and few internet, but something I dont want to stop is to go on with this blog. Even if I have few time, I will make it at home and then copy-paste here in a little moment.
So, from 20th forget my msn (On 20th my friend from Estonia, Julia, will come to visit me with her boyfriend and I will show them a bit of Galicia, coming back to Vigo on 22nd june and back to Alfoz, my hometown on 22nd june as well XDD, 23rd I will start working).
Msn will be quite closed until 18th june, the day of my last exam. After that, you can contact me by mail, facebook (as I am doing a lot in the last times) or comment here.

Non terei msn ata outubro (alomenos a miúdo e imposible polas noites) así que os únicos medios de contacto son mail ou comentario aqui no blog (ainda casi non coñezo a ninguén que teña facebook e sexa español, ainda que é a comunidade máis extensa a nivel global!), que seguirei actualizando cada poucos dias.
PD: no mapa non me esmerei moito, quedou un pouco chafalleiro, pero da unha idea XDD

Are US americans stupid?
This is the name of the following video I have found in youtube.
I think most of us, the europeans, have this question in our minds when we see the leader of the United States of America. It's ok, he is not really smart, but people who voted for that one are not either.
I was quite surprised when they did a poll in USA and got an amazing result of lots and lots of people who thought Spain was situated beneath Mexico. I could mention more examples about cultural stuff... though of course not all them are like that (I still have some friend from there hehe, don't bother if you read this, Brian).
But.. amazing the low cultural level of so many!
And... what kind of country can support a war against another country that even don't know that exists??? XXDDD This stupid patriotism that we can see at the end of the video is something unbeliavable and almost funny if we weren't talking about real people who die by the hands of a nation like that and interests that their people ignore (how come! USA cannot do anything bad, so .. up with USA!!!).

Equilibrium - Sagas
I am completely excited with the new album of Equilibrium. I just checked today this page
where you can check the first seconds of every song of the new stuff and sounds just great!!
Just check the 3rd or 4th or 7th song!! It has a great looking, and my expectations are enough high!
Sagas will be out on 27-06-2008 but cannot wait for listening this album. Maybe the best of the year in Pagan viking folk metal, or heathen metal as they call this style now, after Forefather?
(I am really obsessed with the new's Forefather! cannot stop playing once and again since months ago XDDD)
